OUR CHAPTER

In the Fall of 2018, Joanna Bui and Jessica Nguyen recognized the lack of Asian representation and women empowerment on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus and in the Lincoln community. Throughout their undergraduate experiences, they identified the growing need for an organization that fosters a positive and inclusive environment for women, particularly Asian women, in the Greek community. 

 

With the support of their family and friends, the two trailblazers founded No One Ventures Alone (NOVA) - an interest group that advocates Asian awareness, and a community for women of diverse backgrounds in the means of being a part of the Multicultural Greek community. Through the creation of NOVA, Ms. Bui and Ms. Nguyen hoped that women could practice a sense of autonomy in their Greek experience - to be able to have a choice in being a part of a community that is a true representation of one’s beliefs and values. As such, an additional multicultural organization on campus not only brings unity, but encourages diversity throughout one’s collegiate experience. 

 

With this vision in mind, the two scouted for other dedicated female leaders who also sought the same values. Driven by the bonds created through diverse, shared experiences, Payao Lor, Riana Lurice Prudente, Chau Nguyen, Hannah Nguyen, Joanna Bui, Huda Mohammed, Jessica Nguyen, Ann Pham, Shelly Nguyen, and Tiana Le persevered through setbacks and challenges brought by the journey of bringing another Asian-interest Sorority onto their campus. Through their utmost devotion, hardwork, and guidance of Jennifer Kim and Pactra Chab, the Timeless Ten chartered the 22nd Chapter of Delta Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. on October 26, 2019.
